Easy QR Scanner is built on one principle — your data never leaves your device.
Last updated: June 2025THE SHORT VERSION Easy QR Scanner stores everything — scan history, favorites, settings, and your personal QR contact — locally on your device only. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no cloud storage. Nothing you scan is ever sent anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes all data permanently.
Easy QR Scanner collects no personal information. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any information that identifies you as an individual.
No account creation or sign-in is required. The app works entirely offline. No data is ever transmitted to our servers — because we have no servers.
All data created while using the app is stored exclusively on your device:
Scan History — Every barcode or QR code you scan is saved to a local SQLite database on your device. This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time via Settings → Clear Scan History.
Favorites — Entries you star are marked in the same local database. You can clear them via Settings → Clear Favorites.
My QR contact data — If you fill in your personal contact details under My QR, they are saved to your device's local storage (SharedPreferences) and never uploaded anywhere. This data is used only to generate your personal QR code on-device.
App preferences & settings — Your settings (theme, accent color, beep, scanner options) are stored in SharedPreferences on your device only.
None of the above is backed up to the cloud, synced, or shared with any third party.
Camera — Required to scan QR codes and barcodes using your device's camera. The camera feed is processed entirely on-device in real time and is never recorded or stored.
Vibration — Used to provide haptic feedback when a code is successfully scanned. This is optional and can be turned off in Settings.
Read External Storage / Read Media Images — Required to let you select an image from your gallery for scanning. The image is processed on-device and not stored or transmitted.
Write External Storage — Required on Android 9 and below to save generated QR code images to your gallery. On Android 10+, this permission is not needed.
Internet — Used only when you explicitly open a URL scan result in the in-app browser, or when the app fetches a page title for a URL (if enabled in Settings). No scan data is transmitted; only a standard HTTP request to the URL you tapped is made.
You can revoke any permission at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Easy QR Scanner → Permissions.
Easy QR Scanner does not communicate with any backend server for core functionality. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting service, no usage analytics, and no remote configuration.
The only network activity initiated by the app is:
In-app browser — When you tap "Open" on a URL scan result and the in-app browser is enabled, the app loads that URL in an embedded web view. This is identical to opening the URL in any web browser. The URL you visit is not logged by us.
URL page title fetch — If "URL info" is enabled in Settings, the app makes a single HTTP request to the scanned URL to read its HTML page title. This is a standard web request containing no personal data. It can be disabled at any time.
Neither of these activities sends any scan data, device identifiers, or personal information to any party.
Easy QR Scanner does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, crash reporting SDKs, social login providers, or cloud storage services.
The app uses open-source libraries for camera scanning, QR/barcode generation, database access, and UI. These libraries operate entirely on your device and do not transmit data to external parties.
If you use the in-app browser to visit external websites, those websites are subject to their own privacy policies, which are outside our control.
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are always in complete control of it.
To clear scan history: Open the app → Settings → Clear Scan History. This permanently deletes all non-favorited history entries.
To clear favorites: Open the app → Settings → Clear Favorites, or swipe any item in the Favorites screen.
To delete all data: Go to Android Settings → Apps → Easy QR Scanner → Storage → Clear Data. This permanently erases all scan history, favorites, My QR data, and settings.
To delete everything: Uninstall the app. This permanently removes all data the app has ever stored on your device. There is no server-side data to request deletion of — because none exists.
Easy QR Scanner is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any user. Because no personal data is collected at all, the app presents no specific privacy risk to younger users.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of the app after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
