QR Sphere is built with privacy at its core. No accounts, no servers, no personal data collected.
Last updated: April 2025THE SHORT VERSION
QR Sphere does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All scan history, settings, and generated QR codes are stored locally on your device only. Nothing ever leaves your device.
QR Sphere does not collect any personal information from you. The app does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any identifying information.
No account creation or login is required. Every feature of the app works without you providing any personal details whatsoever.
QR Sphere requests camera access for two specific purposes — scanning QR codes using your device camera, and scanning barcodes.
When you open the QR scanner or barcode scanner and tap to scan, the app activates your camera using the MobileScanner library to detect and decode codes in real time. The camera is only active while the scanner screen is open and you are actively using it.
The app does not take photos, does not record video, does not access your camera roll, and does not activate the camera at any other time. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time through your device settings. If denied, the camera scanning feature will not be available, but you can still scan QR codes by uploading an image from your gallery.
QR Sphere requests storage permission only when you choose to download a QR code image you have generated.
When you generate a QR code and tap the Download button, the app captures the QR code as a PNG image and saves it to a folder named "QR Sphere" inside your device's Downloads directory. This is the only time storage is accessed.
On devices running Android 13 or higher, the app specifically requests the photos media permission rather than broad storage access, in line with Android's current permission model. On older Android versions, standard storage permission is requested instead.
The app does not read, scan, or access any other files or folders on your device.
QR Sphere can scan QR codes from images stored in your gallery. When you choose the "Upload from Gallery" option in the QR scanner, the app opens your device image picker so you can select an image.
The selected image is passed to the scanner for QR code detection only. The image is not stored, copied, uploaded, or retained by the app in any way after scanning is complete.
Every QR code and barcode you scan is automatically saved to a local history list on your device. QR scan history and barcode scan history are stored separately.
This history is saved using SharedPreferences, which is a local storage mechanism built into Android. The data never leaves your device — it is not uploaded to any server, not shared with any third party, and is not accessible to anyone other than you.
You have full control over your history. You can delete individual scan entries or clear the entire history at any time from within the app. Deleting history removes it permanently from your device.
QR Sphere requests internet permission to support the following user-initiated actions only.
If a scanned QR code or barcode contains a URL, you can tap the "Open URL" button on the result screen, which uses your device's browser to open the link. The app itself does not make this request — it hands the URL to your browser.
The Help & Support screen provides options to send an email to the support address and to open a WhatsApp chat. Both of these are launched through your device's installed apps using standard Android intent handling.
The Settings screen includes links to the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions pages, and a Rate this App option that opens the Google Play Store listing. These are all opened externally through your browser or Play Store app.
QR Sphere does not make any background network requests, does not connect to any server, and does not transmit any data over the internet.
QR Sphere includes optional scan feedback features that you can toggle on or off from the Settings screen.
When "Beep on scan" is enabled, the app plays a short beep sound from your device speakers when a scan is successfully completed. This uses a local audio file stored within the app.
When "Vibrate on scan" is enabled, the app triggers a brief vibration on your device when a scan completes. These settings are saved locally on your device and remembered between sessions.
QR Sphere does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no personal information from any user regardless of age, it presents no specific risk to younger users.
The app contains no content that is inappropriate for children.
If this Privacy Policy is updated in the future, the updated version will be made available within the app and on this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
